Principal Electrical & Power (E&P) Engineer

RINA is seeking a freelance/independent Principal Electrical & Power (E&P) Engineer to provide technical leadership, systems integration, engineering assurance and governance across railway modernisation, electrification, signalling, telecommunications, fleet and infrastructure programmes in Ireland.
The assignment is expected to run for a period of up to 24 months and will be delivered through a blended working model, comprising approximately 50% attendance in Ireland and 50% remote working, according to programme requirements.
The role provides specialist advice and assurance for traction power, HV/LV distribution, electrification, substations, station electrical systems and associated infrastructure, supporting design reviews, compliance assessments, technical governance and delivery in line with applicable standards.
Key Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, with at least 10 years’ railway electrical and power systems experience.
- Experience designing, reviewing or assuring traction power, HV/LV distribution, electrification, substations, station electrical systems and related infrastructure, including 650V applications.
- Strong knowledge of railway electrical standards, power integration, electrical safety and engineering governance.
- Ability to provide design reviews, compliance assessments, technical advice, specifications, engineering reports and construction support across multiple projects.
- Experience in multidisciplinary railway and investment programme environments, with strong stakeholder management, technical leadership and problem-solving skills. #LI-FC1
