RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Italy Stability Plan Approval Engineer to join its office in Viareggio, Italy within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.

Mission

This role focuses on supporting the elaboration of detailed plan and design reviews, resolving issues related to conflicting design requirements, ensuring client requirements and applicable standards are met

Projects could include the approval of new building, conversion, and existing vessels and yachts. #LI-MC1

Key Accountabilities

  • Review and approve critical loadline assignments, intact & damage stability booklets, loading computer, and ballast water management plans, ensuring compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations for diverse marine vessels.
  • Provide invaluable guidance and support to clients during the design and construction phases, offering expertise on load line, stability, and ballast water management plan matters.
  • Assist in the detailed marine engineering plan review process, adhering to RINA rules, international conventions, and contractual requirements.
  • Oversee project elements and visit sites for measurements, ensuring day-to-day support and oversight of engineering tasks.
  • Prepare and deliver project documentation, technical reports, and engineering drawings while taking responsibility for the financial progress of assigned tasks.
  • Apply project management concepts, provide feedback to project managers, and manage simple projects efficiently, addressing structural problems and liaising between engineering and construction personnel.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Engineering
Master’s Degree

Qualifications

  • 1 year of hands-on experience in ship stability analysis, preferably within a class society, shipbuilding, or maritime consultancy.
  • Extensive knowledge of stability regulations, including IMO codes, classification society rules, and international maritime safety conventions related to ship stability.
  • Expertise in stability calculations, including intact stability, damage stability, and parametric rolling analysis, using hydrodynamic software and engineering tools.
  • Proven ability to interpret and approve stability plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and classification standards.
  • Experience in assessing stability conditions for new builds and retrofit projects, with the capability to propose improvements when necessary.
  • Strong understanding of ship design, structural elements, and their impact on stability.
  • Effective collaboration skills with design teams, surveyors, and shipbuilders to ensure proper implementation of stability plans.
  • Familiarity with ship operational parameters and their impact on stability in various scenarios, along with excellent communication and reporting skills for producing comprehensive stability assessment reports.
