RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Surveyor - Venice to join its office in Venice within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.

Mission

A surveyor in a classification society plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine assets. The main responsibilities are aimed at verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards. #LI-MC1

Key Accountabilities

  • 1. Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure stringent adherence to classification society rules, international regulations, and statutory requirements during surveys and inspections. Stay updated with new regulations to guarantee compliance.
  • 2. Technical Expertise:
    Provide expert technical guidance to clients, shipowners, and manufacturers on matters related to classification, design, construction, and maintenance. Keep abreast of industry advancements to apply cutting-edge knowledge in surveys.
  • 3. Problem-Solving:
    Act as a troubleshooter, addressing technical challenges during surveys or client interactions.
  • 4. Quality Assurance:
    Implement QA measures in survey processes to ensure reports maintain the highest standards of accuracy and reliability.
  • 5. Client Education:
    Educate clients on classification society processes, rules, and the importance of compliance for safety and operational efficiency.
  • 6. Documentation and Reporting:
    Use standardized templates for inspection reports, ensuring consistency, clarity, and timeliness. Integrate digital tools for efficient documentation management.
  • 7. Collaboration and Teamwork:
    Collaborate with colleagues internally and externally to share knowledge and best practices. Contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • 8. Continuous Professional Development:
    Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated with industry standards and technologies. Pursue relevant certifications to enhance expertise.
  • 9. Ethical Conduct:
    Uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions to ensure integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes.

Education

Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Junior Surveyor or 5 years of experience in engineering or survey fields within the marine industry.
  • Proficiency in the English language relevant to classification, statutory certification, and future work requirements.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions.
  • Understanding of engineering plans, shipbuilding practices, and ship operations.
  • Capability to perform tasks related to new building surveys, ship in-service surveys, marine management systems audits, and testing activities.
  • Knowledge of ships' engineering systems, relevant computer programs, and technical interfaces.
