RINA is currently recruiting for a Japan Project Manager (Contract Focus) to join its office in Tokyo, Japan within the Energy Procurement Solutions Division.

Mission

The Project Manager (Contract Focus) will be responsible for overseeing inspection and expediting projects, with a strong focus on contract management, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This role manages the full lifecycle of projects and contracts — from initial planning and document issuance to performance monitoring and close-out — ensuring compliance with legal and company standards. The Project Manager (Contract Focus) will coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders and timelines, support project execution by aligning contract deliverables with operational needs and leverage their engineering background to facilitate technical discussions. Accurate data entry, effective communication, and continuous process improvement are key to success in this role. The role also encompasses project coordination responsibilities, using engineering knowledge to interface with technical stakeholders and support project execution.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Project & Contract Management
  • Oversee inspection and expediting projects, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and operational needs.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of contracts, from planning and document issuance to performance monitoring and close-out.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and company requirements while optimizing profitability and customer satisfaction.
  1. Coordination & Communication
  • Coordinate activities across internal teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely execution of inspection-related services.
  • Provide clear requirements to the Technical Recruiting Team for engaging vendor inspection and field expediting services.
  • Facilitate effective communication and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support project scheduling, milestone tracking, and coordination of inspection/expediting activities from an engineering perspective.
  1. Documentation & Financial Oversight
  • Prepare and issue all necessary documents and instructions for contract execution.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate invoicing, cost control, and financial tracking.
  1. Performance & Risk Monitoring
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with contract and project execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement in contract and project management processes.
  1. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by proactively addressing concerns and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other relevant parties.
  1. Data Management & Recordkeeping
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into legacy systems.
  • Maintain organized and detailed records related to contract and project activities.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Energy Engineering or Engineering General

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in contract management, procurement, or a related field, with the required years of experience varying depending on the seniority of the role
  • Strong understanding of contract law principles, with the ability to interpret and negotiate complex agreements effectively
  • Project management or coordination experience in inspection, expediting, or engineering-related projects
  • Fluency in Japanese is a must; business-level English proficiency required
