Foreship (part of RINA) is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer, Electrical Systems to join its office in Tallinn within the Marine Design & Engineering Division.
Mission
The Project Engineer is responsible for the successful technical execution of high-value and complex projects, focusing on maintaining the quality and compliance of all technical deliverables. This role is instrumental in integrating multidisciplinary technical contributions, ensuring that all project requirements are met according to safety and industry standards. The Project Engineer plays a key role within the project team, supervising technical implementation and collaborating closely with other engineers and subcontractors to deliver on client expectations. #LI-DP1
Key Accountabilities
- Design, review, and coordinate electrical systems for ships, including power distribution, lighting, automation, and instrumentation.
- Prepare, review, and approve electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Ensure all designs comply with classification society rules and marine electrical codes.
- Collaborate with naval architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to integrate electrical systems with ship design.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and cost control for electrical engineering activities.
- Conduct technical assessments of electrical systems during newbuilds, retrofits, and conversions.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and testing to verify installation quality and compliance.
- Provide technical support to project teams and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Utilize software tools for electrical system design, calculations, and documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electrical engineering for the maritime industry.
- Experience with shipboard electrical systems, including power distribution, automation, and control systems.
- Knowledge of classification society rules and marine electrical codes.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software; experience with marine calculation tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with project documentation, technical specifications, and testing procedures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
