RINA is currently recruiting for a Trapani Senior Marine Surveyor to join its office in Trapani, Italy within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.​

Mission

The Senior Surveyor serves as an experienced and knowledgeable professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry principles.The Senior Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement of surveying processes. #LI-DC2

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Specialist Expertise:
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on maritime Rules and Regulations, ensuring all surveying activities comply with the latest statutory and classification requirements.
    • Monitor evolving industry standards and contribute recommendations for updating procedures and safety protocols to enhance operational effectiveness.
  2. Inspection and Reporting:
    • Perform detailed surveys and inspections of classed vessels, offshore installations, and other marine assets, verifying compliance with established regulations.
    • Prepare comprehensive, precise technical reports within designated timeframes to document findings and support certification processes.
  3. Leadership and Coordination:
    • Organise and manage surveying schedules, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and timely completion of inspections.
    • Mentor and guide junior surveyors, fostering professional development and maintaining team performance standards.
  4. Client Relations:
    • Maintain proactive communication with clients to address concerns, resolve complex technical issues, and promote satisfaction with survey outcomes.
    • Act as a trusted advisor, offering expert solutions aligned with client and regulatory expectations.
  5. Training and Development:
    • Deliver training programs and technical support to less experienced colleagues, enhancing collective expertise within the surveying team.
    • Engage in continuous professional learning to remain current with industry advancements and best practices.
  6. Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all surveying activities uphold RINA’s quality benchmarks, maintaining consistency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance across all inspections.
  7. Ethical Conduct:
    • Adhere to the highest ethical standards, promoting integrity, fairness, and transparency in all professional undertakings.

Education

Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years’ direct experience as a Surveyor or at least six years in engineering, inspection, or related survey roles within an IACS Classification Society.
  • Advanced understanding of RINA’s technical strategy within the marine sector, coupled with a Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering.
  • Proficient English communication skills suitable for completing classification, statutory certification processes, and related services effectively.
  • Demonstrated capability to interpret and apply RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations and internal safety policies.
  • Competence in reading engineering plans and comprehensive knowledge of shipbuilding and operational practices.
  • Experience in conducting new building surveys, in-service ship surveys, marine management system audits, and related certification assessments.
  • Practical knowledge of ship engineering systems, machinery, and relevant computer software applications essential for survey activities.
  • Strong analytical skills and collaborative mindset to engage in multidisciplinary project environments.
