Project Controller, Financial Management

An exceptional Project Controller required to join RINA’s Project Office, accountable for coordinating and maintaining all project finances and information. RINA's Defence business unit has circa 300 projects active at any one time and you will be a key player in ensuring the business management systems are kept up to date with accurate performance data. Working closely with project delivery teams, Finance and our consultants, you will identify and report project issues & risks to the Senior Management Team (SMT).
This role can be Swindon or Leatherhead based, but RINA is a smart working environment, where you can manage your time flexibly between home and the office.
Responsibilities will include:
- Input and maintain the accuracy of project budget data, held in the business management systems;
- Facilitate effective decision making through the provision and analysis of project control data;
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis to the Management Team and Project Managers as required;
- Timely and accurate invoicing of projects in accordance with contract and business requirements;
- Credit control of sales ledger and dealing with invoicing queries and reporting to the SMT;
- Calculate and create revenue accruals in the business systems as part of the month end reporting procedure;
- Liaise with the central finance team to support financial reporting requirements for the business unit e.g. responding to auditor queries;
- Establish, apply, and improve Project Control procedures, methods and systems;
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- At least two years’ Project Controls experience, either with a Project Management Office or finance & accounting;
- No sector specialism required, but an interest in the UK Defence sector will be advantageous;
- Preferable APM Controls qualifies, but not a pre-requisite;
- Understanding of Project Management governance, processes and tools including; planning, progress tracking, risk and issue management frameworks;
- Knowledge of business management software and ERP applications such as; SAP, MS Project and/or MS Dynamics CRM;
- Experienced data analysis skills covering cost/revenue collection, billing, invoicing, financial reporting for projects;
- Experience with working in a team and independently, preferably in a matrix environment;
- Successful in establishing strong and effective working relationships with customers and colleagues;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a keen eye for detail;
- Strong MS Office expertise, with advanced Excel skills;
- To succeed you will be responsive, confident, concise, resilient and able to adapt.
- Due to sensitivity of the work we deliver, you have existing Security Clearance, or MUST be a British citizen, willing to undertake the vetting process.
