Pipeline Instrument Man

RINA is currently recruiting for a Pipeline Instrument Man to join its office in Sunrise, Florida within the Energy Engineering Project Management Division.
Mission
The Pipeline Instrument Man is responsible for performing field data collection relating to pipelines independently under the supervision of senior office staff. The main skills required include experience operating robotic total station, digital level, and RTK GPS equipment. Experience using a 3D laser scanner and/or a Metrotech utility locator will also be useful. Prior experience in fieldwork regarding natural gas or petroleum pipelines is desirable. The Pipeline Instrument Man performs data collection, field calculations, and keeps thorough records of their work. They are able to interpret and understand necessary information from Plats of Survey, Highway Plats, or Construction Plans.
Key Accountabilities
- Demonstrates excellent technical and professional skills commensurate with years of experience
- Coordinates with other staff and engineers during project execution for conformance to standards and code requirements
- Ensures that the company safety, quality and technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of team projects
- Demonstrates a proactive, collaborative approach with project team members, client representatives, contractors, review agencies and others as appropriate for the project
- Meets or exceeds client expectations
- All work is performed under the supervision of others
- Assists with other duties as assigned by managers within your group
- Performs fieldwork using a robotic total station and RTK GPS
- May also use 3D laser scanner and/or a Metrotech utility locator
- Maintains thorough field notes and records
- Oversees the data collection of various features and details of construction portions of pipelines
- Tracks and maintains a variety of safety training and credentials
- Performs basic field calculations
- Communicates daily with senior office staff
Qualifications
- 2-8 years of experience; FS (SIT) or EIT license optional
- Strong computer skills, specifically in the area of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; previous internship experience with relevant hardware and software programs
- Strong technical written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to clearly communicate concepts and ideas
- Self-starter who can work independently and part of a multi-discipline team
Physical Demands
Mobile work: exerting up to forty (40) pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Mobile work involves walking and traversing project site to collect features.
Working Conditions
The worker is required to work in the field and will be exposed to outside weather conditions. Additional environmental conditions may vary by job site.

- Valid driver’s license required
- Up to 100% travel (i.e. project sites) may be required based upon business need
- Some travel may require out of town expenses that will be reimbursed
