RINA is currently recruiting for a Passenger Ship Technical Support Engineer

Mission

The Principal Engineer of Marine Passenger Ships, is primarily focused on ensuring the safety and compliance of passenger ships operating in accordance with international regulations and standards. This position involves overseeing and addressing technical issues related to passenger ships, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with Ship Owners, and Port Authorities, and providing expert guidance to both internal and external stakeholders. Actively participating in the development of the operational network expertise and qualifications on passenger ships. 

Key Accountabilities

1. Technical Support and Advisory:
- Offer expert technical guidance on the design, construction, and operation of passenger ships.
- Resolve technical issues and queries related to passenger ship systems and equipment.
- Produce technical reports, recommendations, and solutions to improve vessel performance and safety.

2. Regulatory Compliance and Inspection:
- Ensure passenger ships meet international regulations, standards, and classification rules.
- Conduct thorough inspections and assessments to confirm compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Prepare and review compliance, certification, and inspection documentation.

3. Project Management and Coordination:
- Oversee and coordinate technical projects related to passenger ship classification, including new builds, conversions, and modifications.
- Collaborate with shipyards, designers, and operators to ensure technical requirements are met and projects are timely.
- Monitor project progress, report on issues, and coordinate with the operational marine manager.

4. Continuous Improvement and Development:
- Stay current with advancements in maritime technology and industry best practices.
- Help develop and refine classification rules, guidelines, and technical standards for passenger ships.
- Engage in industry forums, workshops, and training to enhance technical knowledge and skills.

5. Client Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
- Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring client satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving.
- Respond to client feedback and make improvements based on their needs and expectations.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Engineering

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.

- Proven experience in the maritime industry, specifically with passenger ships or similar vessels.

- In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations, safety standards, and classification rules.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Proficiency in technical documentation and report writing.
