RINA is currently recruiting for a Open Innovation Hub Specialist Singapore to join its office in Singapore within the Global Innovation Division.

Mission:
The Regional Open Hub Innovation Specialist is integral to driving and implementing regional innovation programmes tailored to the marine and maritime sectors within the Open Innovation Hub framework. This role plays a pivotal part in scouting, developing, and coordinating innovative projects that align with RINA's global innovation strategy and business objectives, ultimately leading to sustainable growth and advancement in the industry.

Accountabilities:

  • Program Execution & Project Coordination: You will execute and support regional innovation initiatives in line with the roadmap established by the Regional Innovation Hub Director and the Global Strategy & Innovation teams. This includes a particular emphasis on marine and maritime innovation themes.
    • Coordinate proof-of-concept demonstrations, pilot projects, and collaborative research and development initiatives in partnership with startups, academic institutions, and internal stakeholders.
    • Monitor project progress, ensuring timely delivery, quality assurance, and compliance with established key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ecosystem Engagement & Innovation Scouting: Actively scout for new technological advancements, innovative startups, research institutions, and emerging trends that align with the priorities of the business unit.
    • Contribute to the evaluation of various opportunities based on technological readiness levels (TRL), value proposition, and scalability, while supporting the selection of suitable external partners.
    • Represent the hub in engagements with incubators, accelerators, and educational institutions to foster collaborative innovation.
  • Internal Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer: Serve as the primary contact for innovation activities in your region, facilitating knowledge transfer between global innovation teams and local marine and maritime business units.
    • Support the adoption and dissemination of innovative methodologies, such as design thinking and lean startup principles, throughout internal teams.
    • Participate in and contribute to internal events, workshops, and capability-building initiatives promoted by the Hub.
  • Data, Reporting & Operational Support: Ensure systematic tracking of innovation activities, providing data and comprehensive reports to support informed decision-making and strategic alignment.
    • Collect feedback, conduct impact assessments, and document lessons learned from innovation projects to enhance future initiatives.
    • Collaborate in the ongoing definition and improvement of innovation processes and tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Education:
A Master’s degree in Engineering, Innovation Management, Business Administration, or a related technical or scientific field is essential. Experience or exposure to marine and maritime disciplines is highly valued.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Over 5 years in roles related to innovation, including corporate innovation, R&D, technology scouting, open innovation, or engagement with the startup ecosystem, particularly within or associated with the marine and maritime sector.
    • Proven experience in managing cross-functional projects and collaborating with external stakeholders, such as research centers and incubators.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Demonstrated project management and coordination capabilities.
    • Familiarity with innovation frameworks and methodologies, such as TRL, design thinking, and lean startup.
    • Able to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering collaboration across all levels.
    • A proactive mindset combined with analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
    • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is an asset.

Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel between 25%-50% of the time, as required, to engage with relevant stakeholders and partners within the marine and maritime sectors.
