RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Marine Surveyor (Singapore) to join its office in Singapore within the South Asia Pacific Marine Division.
Mission
The Marine Surveyor serves as an experienced and knowledgeable professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry principles. The Marine Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement of surveying processes.
Key Accountabilities
1. Professional Specialist:
- Acts as a professional specialist, applying in-depth knowledge of Rules, Regulations, and industry concepts.
- Keeps abreast of new developments and recommends changes to surveying processes and safety programs.
2. Inspection and Reporting:
- Conducts routine surveys on classed ships, offshore installations, or marine assets to ensure compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
- Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys.
3. Client Interaction:
- Engages with clients to solve problems within the area of expertise.
- Ensures client satisfaction through effective communication and resolution of issues.
4. Quality Assurance:
- Ensures the maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed.
5. Ethical Conduct:
- Uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes.
Qualification and requirements
Educational Qualifications
The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a closely related field. Alternatively, a Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 1 or 2 for Marine Engineers is acceptable.
Professional Experience
A minimum of three years of professional experience working within the marine industry or in shipbuilding and repair is required. Prior experience in conducting class surveys would be considered an added advantage.
Language Proficiency
A strong command of the English language is essential for this role.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and a sound knowledge of shipbuilding practices and ship structures.
- Comprehensive understanding of ship engineering systems and machinery.
- Proficiency in computer programs and software packages relevant to job responsibilities.
- Knowledge of technical interfaces necessary for effective group project work.
Work Environment and Personal Attributes
- Capability to work in confined spaces, onboard ships, and offshore locations.
- Ability to perform efficiently under stressful conditions.
