RINA is currently recruiting for a China Marine New Building Project Manager to join its office in China within the North Asia Marine Division.
Mission
The job role of a New Building Project Manager in the marine industry involves overseeing the coordination with the owner, shipyard and RINA team during the construction of new vessels. New Building Project Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of new shipbuilding projects by balancing technical excellence and relations management.
Key Accountabilities
1. Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with RINA teams with the owner and shipyard throughout various phases of construction.
2. Technical Oversight:
- Provide technical expertise in ship construction, systems integration, and compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Collaborate with plan approval teams to ensure that design plans and specifications meet the project requirements.
3. Site Team Coordination:
- Coordinate site teams during various phases of survey and assessment work.
- Oversee activities related to construction, inspections, and testing to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
4. Quality Assurance:
- Monitor and assess the quality of services provided by survey teams.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure that the survey process adheres to rules and client expectations.
- Monitor and ensure the maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed by site teams.
- Collaborate with Marine Classification & Statutory Certification BU to uphold high-quality standards.
5. Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between different stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, milestones achieved, and potential challenges.
6. Awareness and Recommendations:
- Stay actively aware of new working methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities.
- Make recommendations for changes in surveying processes and safety programs based on industry developments.
7. Problem Solving and Leadership:
- Recommend new approaches to problems encountered during new building projects.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to lower-level and/or less experienced surveyors in cooperation with Marine Classification & Statutory Certification BU.
8. Information Flow:
- Keep RINA Marine North Asia Region informed of all ongoing activities related to new building projects.
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination with relevant internal stakeholders.
9. Client Engagement:
- Engage in contact with clients to solve problems within areas of expertise.
- Represent RINA at client meetings, and keeps relationship with them to solve problems within areas of expertise to the technical aspects of new building projects.
10. Compliance and Regulations:
- Ensure that all new building activities comply with relevant rules and regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
11. Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the new building projects, including technical specifications, and quality assurance reports.
Education
Qualifications
- Minimum 7-10 years in marine classification, shipbuilding, or related technical fields. Proficiency in Greek as a native language is considered an Plus.
- Experience in ship construction, surveys, and compliance verification.
- Prior exposure to site management, inspections, and technical oversight.
- Strong understanding of quality control, safety regulations, and contract management.
- Project Coordination – Managing survey teams, ensuring budget compliance, and coordinating stakeholders.
- Technical Oversight – Reviewing ship designs, overseeing inspections, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance – Monitoring work quality, maintaining consistency, and ensuring adherence to classification society rules.
- Stakeholder Communication – Liaising with clients, internal teams, and regulatory authorities.
- Problem-Solving & Leadership – Guiding site teams, mentoring junior surveyors, and resolving technical challenges.
