RINA is currently recruiting for a Seismic Hazard Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Rome or Milan, Italy within the Environmental and Engineering Geoscience Division.

Mission

RINA Consulting is currently seeking a highly motivated seismic hazard modeler to join our Engineering Seismology team to undertake in-depth seismic hazard analysis projects for the growing range of national and international clients. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detailed-oriented and responsible of his/her technical duties. Capable of working autonomously and under supervision, interfacing and coordinating with other peers, the candidate will work on challenging offshore and onshore projects, providing consultancy mainly on seismic related issues.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ability to develop seismotectonic models from a range of data, including earthquake catalogues, geological/geophysical information and active fault data
  • With a good understanding of probability and statistics the candidate will be expected to have or gain proficiency in all steps of seismic hazard modelling
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • English is usually the working language at RINA, proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Knowledge of Italian is a plus but it is not required
  • Experience in the use of main seismic related software packages, in particular Openquake, and some programming/scripting language (Matlab, Python) is desirable
  • Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, sometimes under pressure, and always within deadlines

Education

Master’s Degree in Geology or Environmental Engineering

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years professional experience in seismic hazard analysis within an academic or consultancy environment
  • A relevant MSc or PhD in Earth Sciences, Geophysics, Engineering seismology or Earthquake Engineering #LI-AU5
