RINA is currently recruiting for a Milano Marine Surveyor to join its office in Milano, Italy within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.
Mission
The Senior Surveyor is an experienced professional with strong knowledge of testing activities, verification processes, and applicable Rules and Regulations. The role focuses primarily on product testing and inspections at manufacturers, acting as a key technical and commercial reference for clients and ensuring effective coordination of all testing activities in the assigned area.#LI-MP3
Key Accountabilities
Professional Specialist:

Applies in‑depth knowledge of Rules, Regulations, and relevant testing and inspection processes.

Maintains awareness of developments impacting testing and verification workflows.
Inspection and Reporting:
-
Conducts inspections and testing activities mainly at manufacturers to verify compliance with applicable standards.

Prepares accurate and timely technical reports.
Leadership and Coordination:
-
Plans and coordinates testing activities in the assigned area, ensuring efficient cooperation with colleagues and resources.

Monitors service quality and supports junior personnel when required.
Client Interaction:
-
Serves as primary point of contact for clients, managing both technical and commercial aspects.

Ensures client satisfaction through clear communication and proactive issue resolution.
Training and Development:

Provides guidance to less experienced surveyors involved in testing activities.
Quality Assurance:
-
Ensures consistency, completeness, and quality of all assigned activities.
Ethical Conduct:

Upholds integrity, transparency, and fairness across all processes.
Technical and Commercial Responsibilities for Testing Services:

Promotes RINA’s testing and product verification services within the region.

Conducts technical/commercial meetings to explain procedures, assess requirements, and identify new opportunities.

Supports preparation of technical-commercial proposals (scope, cost, scheduling, compliance).

Ensures proper execution of testing activities, verifying resources, competencies, and adherence to standards.

Manages communication with clients throughout the execution of tests.

Monitors market trends to support the development of RINA’s service portfolio.

Ensures full compliance with RINA Rules, statutory requirements, procedures, and principles of quality and safety.
Qualifications
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience as Surveyor or 3 years in engineering/inspection with an IACS Classification Society.

Understanding of RINA’s technical positioning in the marine industry.

Proficiency in Italian and English.

Ability to work with RINA Rules, statutory regulations, and safety policies.

Ability to read engineering plans and good knowledge of materials, manufacturing practices, and industrial processes.

Experience in one or more of the following:
-
Testing activities and manufacturers’ certification
-
New building or in‑service surveys
-
Marine Management Systems audits
-

Knowledge of ship engineering systems is an asset, though the role focuses mainly on inland-waterway activities and manufacturer testing.

Proficiency with relevant software tools.
-
Strong ability to manage external interfaces and project-related coordination.
