RINA is currently recruiting for a Verification & Validation Engineer (JC_0981) to join our teams in Rome and Turin within the Digital Product & Platform Engineering Department
Mission
The Verification & Validation Engineer focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our software products through rigorous testing and verification activities. You will work closely with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to develop test plans, and execute test cases to validate software functionality and performance. The ideal candidate has a good background in software verification and testing methodologies, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.
Key Accountabilities
Test Planning and Strategy:
- Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on requirements and design specifications.
Testing Execution:
- Execute functional, regression, performance, and system integration tests.
- Conduct manual and automated testing to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Identify, analyze, and document defects and inconsistencies in software behavior.
Verification Activities:
- Verify software requirements and design and ensure they are implemented correctly.
- Conduct static code analysis and review to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Conduct dynamic analysis (timing and performance) to ensure execution timing requirements satisfaction
Validation Activities:
- Validate software functionality against defined SW requirements, user needs and intended use cases.
- Perform usability testing and ensure user interface consistency and intuitiveness.
Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test reports, and test summaries.
- Document and communicate test results to stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in the software testing lifecycle.
- Recommend and implement improvements to testing methodologies, tools, and techniques.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with software developers and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and verify bug fixes.
- Communicate testing progress, results, and risks to project stakeholders.
Education
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Verification and Validation Engineer or similar role, preferably in the software industry and in embedded safety-critical domain.
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools and processes, in safety-critical and aviation domain (DO-178C) is a plus.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Python, Ada) for verification and validation purpose.
- Deep experience with test management tools (e.g., VectorCAST/Cover/QA, LDRA, Parasoft, Jira, TestRail, Quality Center).
- Good proficiency in writing test cases and test scripts.
- Strong experience with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., CUnit, CppUnit, Selenium, JUnit, pytest).
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and practices.
- Familiarity with HW interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, serial, I/O signals) and bus communication protocols.

Compensation Data
The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria, and responsibilities in accordance with CCNL RINA (CNEL code I480).
The gross annual salary range foreseen is between €31,000 and €40,000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies, and overall alignment with the role. In addition, an annual variable compensation component is provided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the current policies and collective agreements. The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.
