Senior System Engineer (Defence Sector)

RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior System Engineer (Defence Sector) to join its office in ROME within the Electronics and Systems Engineering Division.

Mission

The System Engineer consultant supports the Client to develop tailor-made system solutions that meet specific requirements and provides added value through design and process optimization and efficiency. System Specification activities through the definition and allocation of clear and comprehensive requirements, collaborating with both Client stakeholders and end-users to understand system needs.

Such activities can be done in office, on field or at Client’s premise.

Key Accountabilities

  • Requirement Management: to collaborate with Client’s development team to specify and maintain system requirements, including functional, non-functional, and interface requirements.
  • System Functionality Definition: to identify and describe the key functionalities of the system, considering requirements and final user needs.
  • Review and Approval: to conduct periodic reviews of the System Specification with key client stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and completeness of requirements and obtain formal approval.
  • System Configuration Management: to manage changes in system requirements and configuration during the development process, ensuring they are evaluated, documented, and implemented appropriately.
  • System Test and Integration: to manage system testing and integration (in factory or on field).
  • Document Management: to support the writing of project technical documentation and the development of reports/summaries also in the form of presentations.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Electronics

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of English language.
  • Technical Knowledge: basic knowledge in front-edge technologies with experience in drafting system requirements and their verification and validation.
  • Programming Skills: basic knowledge of at least one programming language.
  • Knowledge of Best Practices: knowledge of international standards (eg. ISO 15288, ECSS-E-ST-10, MIL-STD-498, DO-254, DO-178, etc.),
  • Knowledge of SW modelling tools (eg. Matlab / Simulink).
  • Reporting: Ability to analyze and process data and represent them synthetically (reports, metrics, graphs).
  • Use of Engineering tools: e.g. IBM DOORS, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), 2D/3D rendering software or CAD and finite elements codes programs.
