RINA is currently recruiting for 2 Principal Systems Engineers to join its office in ROME within the Electronics and System Engineering Division.

Mission

We are seeking Two Professional Profiles: 

 

  • A highly experienced Senior Satellite System Engineer to lead the end-to-end design, integration, and validation of a satellite constellation. The candidate will be responsible for system architecture, mission analysis, interfaces between subsystems, and compliance with ECSS standards

 

  • A highly experienced Senior SAR System Engineer with deep expertise in synthetic aperture radar design, signal processing, and image performance optimization. This role will drive the technical direction of next-generation SAR payload

Key Accountabilities

SYSTEM SATELLITE SYSTEM:

  • Define and validate satellite system architecture and mission requirements
  • Coordinate subsystem teams (AOCS, Power, Payload, Thermal, Communications)
  • Conduct mission analysis, performance budgets, and interface control documents (ICDs)
  • Ensure compliance with ECSS and space industry standard
  • Lead design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, EM/FMQ)
  • Support AIT/AIV campaigns and launch preparation

 

SAR SYSTEM ENGINEER: 

  • Lead SAR payload architecture, RF chain design, and antenna specifications
  • Develop SAR acquisition modes (Stripmap, Spotlight, ScanSAR)
  • Define image quality metrics (NESZ, resolution, ambiguity ratios)
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams on onboard processing algorithms
  • Oversee calibration, radiometric accuracy, and commissioning phases
  • Interface with ground segment for data exploitation

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Engineering General

Qualifications

SYSTEM SATELLITE SYSTEM:

  • Experience in satellite system engineering
  • Proven track record in LEO missions or Earth Observation platforms
  • Strong knowledge of space standards, reliability, and FDIR principles
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills

 

SAR SYSTEM ENGINEER:

  • Experience in SAR system development
  • Expertise in SAR processing algorithms and RF payload design
  • Experience with X-band, onboard processing, and data compression
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with ESA/ECSS environments
