RINA is currently recruiting for a Material and Mechanical Consultant to join its office in Roma within the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division.

We are looking for an engineer with expertise in fracture mechanics, fatigue, and/or large strain material behavior, along with a keen interest in metallurgy and corrosion. Your contributions will play a vital role in technology development essential for driving the energy transition within the industry.
Key Accountabilities
In your role as a Material and Mechanical Engineer at RINA Consulting, you will become an essential member of the Material Engineering Discipline team. You will deliver extensive technical services aimed at resolving complex structural challenges related to material performance under demanding service conditions. Your key accountabilities will encompass:
- Reviewing and appraising technical documentation pertinent to critical assets, including mechanical design standards, material specifications, and testing protocols for hydrogen service compatibility.
- Formulating and implementing technical strategies that align with project objectives.
- Carrying out comprehensive structural analyses, as well as fracture mechanics and fatigue assessments.
- Coordinating efforts related to microstructural analysis and fractographic examinations.
- Engaging collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Supervising laboratory testing activities in close coordination with laboratory engineers to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Drafting detailed technical reports, preparing for and engaging in technical discussions with clients, thus fostering strong partnerships and trust.
Education
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. A PhD in applied mechanics, fracture mechanics, or fatigue, alongside 2-3 years of practical experience, would be highly beneficial. Furthermore, proficiency with CAD and FEM tools is desirable. Applicants should demonstrate a solid understanding of metallurgy and material science principles. The ideal candidate will exhibit resilience in facing new challenges, complemented by a passion for continuous learning. A strong team player with exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to produce comprehensive and precise reports within tight deadlines is essential. Fluency in English is a must to facilitate effective communication with international teams.
