RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior High Engineer - Temperatures Technologies to join its office in Rome within the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division.​

Mission

The Junior High Temperature Thermodynamics and Technologies Engineer applies advanced thermodynamic and physical chemistry principles to design, model, and optimize high-temperature industrial processes. In practice, the engineer develops and validates process simulations, defines thermal and material balances, and evaluates reaction kinetics and heat transfer mechanisms. They identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, optimize furnace or reactor performance, and enhance product quality. 
 

Key Accountabilities

High Temperature Technologies – Project & Technical Delivery
- Develop and maintain project schedules and deliverable timelines under the guidance of consultants and engineers.
- Monitor, analyze, and improve process performance through data-driven evaluation of operational parameters.
- Implement modifications to equipment, systems, or operating parameters to enhance technical performance and reliability.
- Prepare high-quality project deliverables, including technical reports, process documentation, and engineering drawings.
High Temperature Thermodynamics – Research, Analysis & Process Optimization
- Conduct in-depth thermodynamic analyses of high-temperature processes to evaluate efficiency, reaction mechanisms, and material behavior under extreme conditions.
- Develop and apply advanced modeling and simulation tools to optimize thermal and energy performance.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to translate thermodynamic insights into practical engineering solutions for industrial applications.
People & Team Collaboration
- Support internal teams and external consultants with technical input, documentation, and data collection for permit applications and regulatory submissions.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all assigned activities are executed in full compliance with RINA’s Quality Management System (QMS), policies, and procedures.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and traceability in project documentation and deliverables.
- Identify and report potential non-conformities or improvement opportunities within projects and workflows.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by sharing lessons learned and contributing to the refinement of internal methodologies and tools.
Reporting & Communication
- Draft and review technical documentation, reports, and correspondence to ensure clarity and completeness.

Education

Master’s Degree in Energy Engineering or Materials Science

Qualifications

'- 0-3 years of experience in energy science, thermodynamic modeling or related R&D/industrial activities.
- Knowledge of energy and thermodynamic modeling, particularly in high-temperature technologies.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and to communicate in English (both written and spoken). 
- Proficiency with thermodynamic modeling tools/software is a plus.

Compensation Data

The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria, and responsibilities in accordance with CCNL Metalmeccanico – Industria (CNEL code C011).

The gross annual salary range foreseen is between €30.000 and €35.000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies, and overall alignment with the role.

The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.
