RINA is currently recruiting a Junior Hardware Designer / FPGA - Space & Defence Sector to join its team in Rome, Milan or Turin working on projects in the Space and Defence sectors. 

Mission

The selected candidate will support the design and development of FPGA solutions within the Space & Defence sector, starting from system requirements and customer technical documentation, contributing to specification definition, code implementation, and integration and verification activities at hardware board level. 

The role involves participation in RTL development phases, functional validation, technical documentation, and project team support to achieve milestones while ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. #LI-MT3

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the analysis of FPGA architectures based on customer requirements and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate in translating high-level system requirements into detailed FPGA specifications.
  • Contribute to the implementation and integration of FPGA designs at hardware board level.
  • Develop RTL code using VHDL.
  • Participate in the creation of reusable FPGA IPs.
  • Support the definition of test strategies and the verification of FPGA functionalities.
  • Collect and analyze FPGA performance metrics to validate implemented features and IP integration.
  • Document development activities, including coding, validation, and verification tasks.
  • Support the preparation of project documentation, milestone reports, and technical review materials.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic/TLC Engineering

Qualifications

  • willingness to work, on behalf of RINA, at client sites

 

  • having up to 3 years of experience (even as academic or internship) in similar roles will be considered as a plus
  • basic understanding of FPGA verification methodologies and interest in FPGA debugging techniques
  • basic knowledge of CAD tools or schematic design software (e.g., Spice, Altium, Cadence, Mentor).
  • basic concepts of signal processing algorithms
  • knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and hardware security concepts
  • understanding of digital electronics and hardware architectures.
  • awareness of high-speed digital design techniques
  • familiarity with communication protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, RS422, MIL-STD-1553.
