RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Environmental Consultant to join its office in Genova, Milano or Roma, Italy within the ESG & Sustainability Division.
Mission
The successful candidate will be part of the Project Financing Environmental & Social Compliance Team, within ESG and Sustainability Unit of RINA Consulting, in Genoa, Milan or Rome and will collaborate with other RINA teams globally.
She/he will be focused on developing tasks relevant to the assessment and mitigation of environmental risks associated with energy, infrastructure and industry projects, conducting comprehensive environmental impact assessment studies, E&S due diligences, and audits, with a strong emphasis on supporting project financing activities. #LI-MP3
Job Responsibilities
- Develop environmental impact assessments for energy projects, overseeing assessments of biophysical components.
- Identify and evaluate potential environmental risks, and develop innovative mitigation measures to minimize adverse impacts.
- Conduct E&S due diligence to evaluate environmental and social risks associated with energy projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct thorough audits to assess environmental compliance, social standards, and financial requirements.
- Develop advanced and tailored mitigation strategies to address complex environmental and social risks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Prepare detailed and insightful environmental reports for stakeholders, including investors, financiers, and regulatory authorities.
- Effectively communicate findings, risks, and mitigation strategies to support project financing activities and decision-making.
- Support proposal preparation and client liaison activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives and environmental requirements.
- Travel internationally to conduct site visits and assess environmental, and health&safety aspects of energy projects.
- Review environmental documentation, compliance measures, and project implementation on-site, providing expert recommendations.
Requirements
- 0-3 years of experience in similar roles
- Experience in environmental impact assessment methodologies, ESDD compliance, External Monitoring and Environmental and Social Management Systems with project financing environmental and social standards.
- understanding and application of IFC Performance Standards as well as ADB/EBRD/Equator Principles or other international Lenders’ Environmental, social, health and safety standards, in the context of infrastructure and/or energy sectors
- Ability to perform air quality modelling and/or noise quality modelling, ability to use Windpro to undertake shadow flicker, noise and visual impact assessments is an asset
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English, working knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset
- Flexibility to travel worldwide on shorts assignments

Education
MSc or MA degree in Environmental/Chemical Engineering or Environmental Sciences, background and focus on environmental impact assessment from industrial activities.
