RINA is currently recruiting for a Chemical Engineer - Junior Project Manager to join its office in Rome, Italy within the Energy Asset Integrity Project Management Division.
Mission
The Junior Project Manager is responsible for leading complex projects, overseeing project teams, and acting as a key contact between the company, staff, and subcontractors to ensure successful project completion. This role focuses on high-value projects, ensuring delivery aligns with company objectives and timelines.
Key Accountabilities
Project Execution:
- Define and clarify project objectives, scope, and deliverables, developing comprehensive roadmaps that guide successful project execution.
- Manage and coordinate resources, timelines, and activities across diverse teams, ensuring all efforts stay in alignment with the project goals.
- Provide strategic oversight and proactive resolutions to high-level project issues, keeping leadership informed of significant developments and outcomes.
Resource Management:
- Collaborate with department leads to ascertain resource availability when required, thereby optimally balancing workloads.
- Monitor resource utilisation closely, working to prevent overburdening team members and facilitating discussions on support needs with respective department leads.
Client and Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as the primary contact for client communication, expertly managing expectations to build trust and professionalism.
- Deliver thorough progress reports and insightful risk assessments to clients and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate effective information flow between project teams and senior leadership, ensuring alignment on objectives and expectations.
Financial Oversight:
- Maintain control over project budgets, diligently analysing financial performance and adjusting expenditures as necessary to align with project parameters.
- Prepare accurate financial reports and projections, keeping leadership apprised of any budget impacts or implications.
- Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities throughout projects to maintain profitability while ensuring compliance with financial standards.
Risk and Quality Management:
- Lead risk management strategies by identifying, prioritising, and addressing project risks to safeguard project success.
- Establish rigorous quality standards through control measures, conducting regular evaluations to ensure compliance.
- Drive root cause analysis for any project concerns, implementing corrective actions as required to enhance project integrity.
Supervision and Guidance:
- Operate with minimal oversight, showcasing initiative in navigating complex project challenges efficiently.
- Mentor associate project managers by sharing invaluable insights, best practices, and lessons learned from previous experiences.
- Foster a culture of empowerment and support among team members, promoting their professional development and growth within the organisation.
Education
Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering is essential for this role.
- +2 years' experience in an engineering or technical role within a project-focused environment is required, with a preference for candidates familiar with cross-functional teamwork.
- Proficiency in both English and Italian languages is essential to facilitate effective communication in a multicultural workspace.
- Strong command of project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, and Lean, tailoring methodologies to fit varying project needs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, resources, and budgets efficiently, showcasing advanced organisational skills.
- A keen understanding of project lifecycle management, including robust experience in requirements gathering, risk management, quality control, and change management processes.
- Good grasp of industry standards, practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to sectors such as IT, construction, and engineering.
- A professional project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner) and certification in Agile (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster) would be advantageous.
- Experience in Asset Integrity projects (covering Inspection, Maintenance, & Operation Engineering Services) is highly valued.
