RINA is currently recruiting for a Asset Integrity Corrosion Engineer to join its office in Rome, Italy within the Energy Engineering Solutions Division.
Mission
The Corrosion Engineer supports the implementation of corrosion management strategies within refinery, oil & gas sites, and power plants, under the guidance of senior engineers. Their mission is to assist in assessing, preventing, and mitigating corrosion-related risks to extend the life cycle of plant/site infrastructure and ensure operational reliability and safety.
Key Accountabilities
Corrosion Risk Assessment Assistance:
- Assist senior engineers in conducting corrosion risk assessments of plant/site infrastructure, including equipment, pipelines, and facilities.
- Participate in identifying corrosion mechanisms, potential failure modes, and corrosion-prone areas through inspection and data analysis.
Corrosion Prevention Measures:
- Support the development and implementation of corrosion control measures and mitigation strategies under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist in recommending corrosion-resistant materials, coatings, and inhibitors for use in construction, inspection, and repair activities.
Monitoring and Inspection Support:
- Aid in establishing corrosion monitoring programs to track corrosion rates, degradation trends, and asset condition over time.
- Assist in conducting regular inspections, integrity assessments, and non-destructive testing (NDT) to identify corrosion damage and deterioration.
Data Analysis and Reporting Assistance:
- Assist in analyzing corrosion data, inspection findings, and failure analysis reports to identify root causes and trends.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, corrosion assessments, and recommendations for management and engineering teams.
Learning and Development:
- Continuously learn and develop knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, corrosion control techniques, and industry standards.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and competencies.
Education
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a corrosion-related role within the refinery, oil & gas, or power generation industries.
- Basic understanding of corrosion mechanisms, corrosion control techniques, and industry standards (e.g., NACE, API, ASTM).
- Familiarity with corrosion monitoring techniques, inspection methodologies, and NDT methods.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and assist in performing failure analysis and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and willingness to learn from experienced professionals #LI-MT3
