RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Floating Offshore Sector Senior Surveyor to join its office in Pescara, Italy within the Marine Special Ships Excellence Centre Division.
Mission
The Senior Surveyor serves as an experienced and knowledgeable professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry principles.The Senior Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement of surveying processes. #LI-MC1
Key Accountabilities
- Technical Expertise and Advisory: Serve as a seasoned expert in maritime classification rules, statutory requirements, and industry standards to guide survey activities effectively. Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory updates to innovate and enhance survey methodologies and safety programs.
- Inspection and Compliance Verification: Conduct thorough and systematic surveys of classed vessels, offshore installations, and other maritime assets to verify compliance with both international classification and statutory obligations. Prepare detailed, precise, and timely reports of findings, documenting any deviations and recommending corrective actions.
- Project Planning and Leadership: Organize and direct survey projects by developing comprehensive work schedules, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Mentor and support junior surveyors, fostering their professional growth and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Client Engagement and Issue Resolution: Maintain proactive communication with clients to address technical inquiries, resolve challenges, and build trust through reliable, transparent service delivery. Facilitate collaboration to enhance client satisfaction and reinforce RINA’s reputation for excellence.
- Training and Staff Development: Lead training initiatives aimed at elevating team competencies, sharing best practices, and promoting continuous learning within the surveying group to strengthen collective expertise.
- Quality Assurance and Ethical Practice: Oversee the integrity and consistency of survey processes, ensuring all work aligns with established company policies and ethical standards. Uphold transparency, fairness, and professional responsibility throughout all interactions and documentation.
Education
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3years of direct experience as a Surveyor, or 5 years in engineering, inspection, or survey roles connected to an IACS-classified Society.
- Solid understanding of RINA’s strategic technical positioning within the marine industry, alongside a commitment to applying this perspective in day-to-day responsibilities.
- Excellent command of the English language, sufficient to conduct surveys, prepare reports, and engage with international clients and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply complex maritime rules, guides, statutory regulations, and safety policies.
- Competent in understanding engineering plans, shipbuilding processes, and operational aspects of maritime vessels.
- Capability to perform comprehensive surveys including new building assessments, in-service ship inspections, marine management system audits, and certification of suppliers and service providers, ensuring all activities meet relevant classification and statutory standards.
- Keen knowledge of ship engineering systems, machinery, and relevant software tools supporting survey practices.
