RINA is currently recruiting for a Environmental Compliance Senior Consultant to join its office in France within the Sustainability and Business Innovation Division.
Mission
The candidate will be part of the team assigned to assess, review and monitor the environmental aspects of projects promoted by International Financial Institutions.
Key Accountabilities
Depending on the project size, can be responsible for all or part of the scope of work in the project;
Can be responsible of internal staff and external consultants;
Interact with clients and colleagues to achieve project objectives using appropriate technical judgment;
Able to discuss and define client requirements; reflecting a clear understanding in Business Development well written technical reports and proposals;
Develop an understanding of RINA business processes in order to prepare commercial and technical proposals;
Assess clients’ needs and translate them into designs, equipment, or new systems under the supervision of a consultant. From the initial concept stage through to completion, they manage project timelines and oversee all developments;
Plan technical solution: engineering consultants find unique ways to resolve technical issues without affecting the overall completion deadline or affecting the involvement from other departments or external companies;
Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of more experienced consultants. Prepare the project deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentation and engineering drawings, etc.);
Provide direct or indirect support to engineers/consultants or engineering/consultants teams by gathering data for permit applications, submitting documentation to officials and other day-to-day duties;
Create documents and reports that detail their assessments, any fact-finding survey data acquired, the project’s inception, and concept planning;
Provide direct day-to-day support and oversight of project elements, visit sites to take measurements, answer contractor questions on behalf of the supervising engineer, and serve as liaisons between engineering and construction personnel;
Be aware and understand the Quality Policy. Ensure that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA QMS. Be aware of the quality of his own work and its impact on service delivery and contribute to the QMS improvement according to his/her role;
Education
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree or above in Environmental Engineering/ Science or related discipline
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience related to the development of impact studies, environmental baselines, involuntary resettlement action plans, stakeholder engagement, indigenous peoples’ plan, and management systems.
Knowledge of environmental, health and safety issues and Good International Industry Practice of the Energy / Infrastructure sectors.
Experience in environmental and social due diligence as well as environmental and social impact assessments for large complex projects.
Relevant technical expertise in air quality/ noise management field and recognized professional qualification in related discipline
Working experience and knowledge of IFC/EBRD/WB/Equator Principles or other Lenders environmental, social, health and safety standards and best practices of the industry and its application in development projects funded by multilateral agencies for the sectors of energy, infrastructure, agriculture and transport.
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English and French. Spanish is a plus.
Excellent writing skills in English is essential.
Availability to travel worldwide on short assignments .
