RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Estimating Consultant to join its office in Genova or Napoli, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.
Mission
The Senior Estimating Consultant is responsible for drafting survey and sub –division plats and technical specifications under the supervision of the Director of Survey and may have matrix reporting to the Project Manager. The Project Surveyor oversees the technical work of one or more Staff Surveyor and is highly involved in the QA/QC process and cost estimation process. The Project Surveyor is responsible for obtaining survey measurements under the supervision of the Director of Survey. The primary responsibilities include traveling to project sites to facilitate the production of geodetic control, topographic, utility, and boundary surveys. The Project Surveyor will survey and investigate land surfaces to project precise measurements and locations, while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The Project Surveyor will collaborate with project team members, client representatives, contractors, review agencies and others as appropriate for the project. #LI-MP3
Key Accountabilities
Cost Estimation:
- Conduct accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop realistic and comprehensive budget forecasts.
Budget Management:
- Monitor and control project costs throughout all phases, ensuring adherence to approved budgets.
- Identify and report on any cost variations, providing recommendations for cost-effective solutions.
Survey:
- Conduct physical site surveys using a variety of equipment and tools
- Survey and investigate land surfaces to project precise measurement and location of lines, angles, points, area, and elevations
- Perform mathematical calculations to determine and confirm surveying measurements
- Ensure compliance to all applicable regulations and requirements including boundary calculations and legal issues
- Schedule and prioritize field surveying activities to ensure that deadlines and objectives are me.
- Draft survey and sub-division plats and prepare descriptions of areas surveyed.
- Review project drawings.
Quantity Takeoff and Measurement:
- Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings to determine the required materials and quantities.
- Verify and measure completed work on-site to assess progress and quantities for billing.
Contract Administration:
- Assist in the preparation and evaluation of tender documents and contracts.
- Review and negotiate contractual terms related to costs and quantities.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Generate regular reports on project costs, providing insights into cost performance against budgets.
- Work closely with project managers to analyze financial data and make informed decisions.
- Prepare and maintain a variety of engineering documents including plans, plats, deeds, and surveys.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties related to project costs.
- Develop strategies to mitigate and manage cost-related risks.
- Coordinate with other engineers and support staff during preliminary and final plan preparation for conformance to standards and code requirements.
- Ensure that the company safety, quality and technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of team projects.
- Compile reports detailing legal boundaries and other relevant information.
Value Engineering:
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to explore cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality.
- Recommend value engineering solutions to optimize project costs.
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of experience applying surveying principles
- Proficient in cost estimation software and tools
- Ability to use survey equipment
- Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) and other land development software to interpret and present information
- In US, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) exam or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
