RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior EMC Consultant to join its office in Mumbai within the Electronics and System Engineering Division.​

Mission

The EMC Consultant is responsible for leading and managing all activities related to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) across multiple complex projects and products.
This role involves advanced technical leadership in defining EMC strategies, ensuring compliance with international standards and client requirements, and guiding internal teams and external partners through qualification, certification, and verification phases.
The EMC Consultant acts as the technical authority on EMC matters, providing expert consultancy, mentoring, and strategic input to support company objectives and contribute to business success.

Key Accountabilities

Technical Leadership & Engineering Governance
- Lead the definition, planning, and execution of advanced EMC engineering activities across multiple projects.
- Review and approve comprehensive EMC technical documentation, including:
EMC Qualification and Certification Plans
EMC Management and Control Plans
EMC Risk Analyses and Mitigation Strategies
EMC Design Reviews and Analytical Studies
- Provide expert oversight on EMC System Assurance Files, ensuring alignment with international standards, customer specifications, and business strategy.
- Supervise the technical work of junior engineers, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with company processes.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of EMC methodologies, standards, and internal best practices.
Qualification, Certification & Advanced Testing
- Oversee and manage the full EMC qualification and certification lifecycle for major or complex programs.
- Ensure the robustness and repeatability of EMC test campaigns through the definition of test strategies, validation criteria, and acceptance standards.
- Supervise and/or perform advanced EMC tests and measurements in laboratory and operational environments.
- Manage non-conformance investigations, driving root cause analyses and defining corrective actions.
- Represent the company as the EMC authority during client, certification body, and regulatory audits.
Strategic Consultancy & Cross-Functional Support
- Act as the primary EMC technical interface for key clients and stakeholders, defining qualification strategies and compliance roadmaps.
- Provide expert consultancy in bid and proposal phases, supporting business development with technical inputs and resource planning.
- Support strategic decision-making by evaluating EMC impacts on product design, performance, and lifecycle cost.
- Collaborate with design teams, system engineers, and suppliers to ensure electromagnetic compatibility from concept to final verification.
Leadership, Mentoring & Team Development
- Lead and mentor EMC engineers, promoting technical excellence and professional growth.
- Exercise independent initiative in setting and achieving engineering goals in alignment with divisional strategies.
- Participate in recruitment, performance evaluation, and capability development for EMC team members.
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Anticipate and assess EMC-related risks across programs and define mitigation strategies aligned with project and corporate objectives.
- Drive lessons learned initiatives and contribute to organizational knowledge-sharing.
- Support continuous improvement of EMC processes, tools, and facilities, contributing to innovation and efficiency.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree in Electronic/TLC Engineering or Physics

Qualifications

'- 8+ years of experience in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) or related advanced engineering disciplines (Electromagnetics, RF, Electronics).
- Proven record of leading EMC design, qualification, and certification activities for complex systems or multi-project programs.
- Advanced knowledge of international EMC Standards (IEC/EN/BS/CEI, MIL-STD-461/464, DEF STAN 59-411) and regulatory frameworks.
- Expertise in EMC testing, measurement methodologies, and data interpretation.
- Strong experience in managing suppliers, laboratories, and client technical interfaces.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience mentoring engineers and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with EMC simulation or modeling tools is a plus.
- Availability for travel to test facilities or client sites, as required.
