Railway RAM Engineer

RINA is currently recruiting for a Railway RAM Engineer to join its office in Mumbai within the Electronics and System Engineering Division.
Mission
The Railway RAM Engineer is responsible for ensuring that rolling stock, signaling, infrastructure, and integrated rail systems meet required levels of reliability, availability, and maintainability. The role involves performing RAM analyses in compliance with railway industry standards such as EN 50126, EN 50128, and EN 50129, contributing to the successful delivery of rail projects.
Key Accountabilities
• Conduct RAM analysis (e.g., FMECA, Reliability Block Diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis) for railway subsystems and complete systems.
• Define and develop RAM requirements based on system architecture and operational needs.
• Produce and maintain RAM Plans, RAM Reports, and RAM Justification Files aligned with project milestones.
• Analyze failure data (FRACAS), maintenance logs, and operational data to derive reliability trends and improvement actions.
• Work closely with Safety, Systems, and Maintenance Engineering teams to integrate RAM requirements into the system design.
• Support the verification and validation of RAM targets through simulation, testing, and operational data analysis.
• Participate in design reviews, RAM workshops, and technical meetings with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Through-Life Support assessments to support maintainability and cost-efficiency.
• Ensure RAM work complies with EN 50126/50129, IEC 61025, and client-specific requirements.
• Provide technical input to tender documents, project proposals, and client deliverables.
Education
Qualifications
• 1+ years of experience in RAM Engineering within the railway industry.
• In-depth knowledge of railway RAM standards, especially EN 50126, EN 50129, and related RAMS processes.
• Proficient in reliability analysis tools such as RAM Commander, Reliasoft, Isograph, or equivalent.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and maintenance documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
• Master’s degree or professional certification in RAMS Engineering or Systems Engineering.
• Experience with rolling stock, signaling, control systems, or infrastructure projects in the rail sector.
• Familiarity with ISO 15288, IEC 61508, and CENELEC standards.
• Understanding of FRACAS, RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance), and LCC analysis.
