Job Description for Quality Control Inspectors
Location: Naval Dockyard, Mumbai (ND MBI) and surrounding areas (Mumbai & Thane Districts)
Contract Duration: 2 Years
Department: Quality Control Engineering Department
Scope of Work:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform inspections based on prescribed standards for various systems and equipment in marine platforms.
2. Submit daily Instant Inspection Reports (IIR) and ensure data is uploaded to the Quality Control Management System (QCMS).
3. Compile and submit final inspection reports (QCIR, Stage/Final Inspection Notes, Refit Quality Reports).
4. Ensure inspections comply with safety norms and local regulations.
5. Maintain proper documentation and adhere to Navy safety and quality guidelines.
Requirements:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (Mechanical, Metallurgy, Production, Automobile, Marine Engineering) with 5 years of relevant experience OR
- Diploma (Mechanical, Metallurgy, Production, Automobile, Marine Engineering) with 10 years of relevant experience OR
- Retired Indian Navy sailors (ERA-III and above) with similar qualifications.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years (or 10 years for diploma holders) in marine engineering inspection or related fields.
- Age: Inspectors should be below 40 years at the time of contract commencement. Age relaxation of 5 years for retired Indian Navy personnel.
Key Skills:
- Familiarity with marine systems and equipment inspection, including Diesel & Gas Turbine engines, auxiliary systems, and instrumentation.
- Expertise in using test equipment and conducting trials procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable engineering standards (ASTM, ASME, ISO, etc.).
- Ability to work in compliance with safety and health regulations.
Other Specifications:
- Inspectors will be deployed for 8 working hours per day, excluding lunch hours.
- The firm must ensure the availability of all necessary test equipment, computers, stationery, and safety gear for the inspectors.
- The contract requires adherence to all relevant safety, health, and operational standards as prescribed by the Indian Navy.
