RINA is currently recruiting for a India Accountant - Accounts Payable to join its office in Mumbai within the Regional Finance Management Division.
Mission
An Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for managing and processing the financial transactions related to a company's payments to its vendors, suppliers, and other creditors. The primary focus of this role is to ensure that all invoices and expenses are accurately recorded, documented, and paid in a timely manner.
Key Accountabilities
Invoice Processing:
- Receive and review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
- Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents to ensure proper authorization and receipt of goods or services.
- Code and enter invoices into the accounting system for payment.
Vendor Management:
- Maintain relationships with vendors and address any inquiries or discrepancies regarding invoices.
- Communicate with vendors to resolve payment issues or discrepancies.
Payment Processing:
- Prepare and process payments through various methods such as checks, electronic funds transfers (EFT), or other payment systems.
- Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors in accordance with payment terms.
Expense Reimbursement:
- Process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Reconcile and verify supporting documentation for expense claims.
Recordkeeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all accounts payable transactions.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to accounts payable activities.
Month-end Reconciliation:
- Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledger with the general ledger.
- Assist in month-end closing processes, providing necessary reports and documentation.
Compliance and Policies:
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting principles, and relevant regulations.
- Participate in audits and provide required documentation and support.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounts payable function.
Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and finance, to ensure accurate and timely processing of payments.
Problem Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues related to accounts payable.
Ad Hoc Tasks:
- Perform other ad hoc financial tasks or projects as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Education
Qualifications
- Entry-level positions: we prefer candidates with internships or related coursework about accounting, credit management, or finance is preferred.
- Understanding of accounting principles and practices is essential.
- Knowledge of spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) for data analysis and reporting.
- Attention to detail is crucial for accurately recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and managing customer information.
