RINA is currently recruiting for a Messina Marine Surveyor to join its office in Messina, Italy within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.

Mission

A Marine Surveyor in a classification society plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine assets.The main responsibilities are aimed at verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards. #LI-MC1

Key Accountabilities

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensuring strict adherence to classification society rules, international regulations, and statutory requirements is paramount in your role. It will be your responsibility to apply new regulations promptly and efficiently.
  • Technical Expertise:
    Leverage your expert technical knowledge to provide valuable advice to clients, shipowners, and manufacturers. Stay updated on the latest industry technologies to apply cutting-edge advancements in your surveys.
  • Problem-Solving:
    Act as a troubleshooter, addressing technical issues during surveys or client interactions, showcasing your problem-solving abilities.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Implement rigorous quality assurance measures in survey processes to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in inspection reports.
  • Client Education:
    Educate clients on classification society processes and the importance of compliance for safety and operational efficiency.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Ensure consistent, clear, and timely reporting by using standardized templates for inspection reports and integrating digital tools for efficient documentation management.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    Collaborate with colleagues internally and externally, share knowledge and best practices, and actively contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Continuous Professional Development:
    Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of evolving industry standards, technologies, and best practices. Pursue relevant certifications to enhance your expertise.

Education

Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Junior Surveyor or 5 years' experience in engineering or survey fields within the marine industry.
  • Proficiency in the English language suitable for classification, statutory certification, and related services.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions.
  • Understanding of engineering plans, shipbuilding practices, and ship operations.
  • Proficiency in performing various surveys including new building surveys, ship in service surveys, Marine Management Systems audits, and testing activities.
  • Knowledge of ships' engineering systems, machinery, computer programs related to the job, and technical interfaces required for group projects.
