RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Software Business Analyst to join its office in Cyprus within the Marine Digital Solutions Division.

Mission

The primary responsibility of a Software Business Analyst is to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, while also facilitating effective communication between business and technical teams throughout the development lifecycle.Their aim is to collect and document  customer requirements, collaborating with software developers, and managing the testing and implementation phases of new software at customer premises. They support also the project management of the software project.

Key Accountabilities

1. Requirements Gathering:
- Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for new software development projects.
- Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to elicit and clarify requirements.
2. Documentation:
- Create detailed and comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, and use cases.
- Ensure that requirements are clear, complete, and align with business goals.
3. Communication and Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and the development team, facilitating communication and understanding between the two.
- Collaborate with software developers to ensure a shared understanding of project requirements.
4. Requirement Analysis:
- Analyze and prioritize requirements to identify critical features and functionalities.
- Work with stakeholders to resolve conflicting requirements and prioritize based on business value.
5. Project Planning:
- Contribute to project planning activities, collaborating with project managers to define scope, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Assist in the development of project plans and schedules.
6. Scope Management:
- Define and manage project scope, ensuring that changes are properly documented and assessed for impact.
- Work with stakeholders to prioritize requirements and manage scope creep.
7. Testing Coordination:
- Collaborate with quality assurance (QA) teams to develop test plans and test cases based on documented requirements.
- Participate in the testing process to ensure that the developed software meets specified requirements.
8. Implementation Support:
- Support the implementation phase of the software development lifecycle, providing guidance and clarification to the development team.
- Work with project managers to ensure timelines and milestones are met.
9. Customer Interaction:
- Engage with customers to gather feedback during the development process and incorporate it into the ongoing development cycle.
- Provide updates to customers on project progress and address any concerns or questions.
10. Change Management:
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs through a formal change control process.
- Ensure that stakeholders are informed and aligned with any changes.
11. Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and issues related to project requirements and work proactively to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop contingency plans.
12. Training and Documentation:
- Develop user documentation and training materials to support the rollout of new software.
- Provide training sessions to end-users and support teams as needed.
13. Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, sharing insights and lessons learned from project experiences.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in software development methodologies.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems
Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering

Qualifications

  • Awareness of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Excel data analysis skills
  • 2-3 years of experience as data analyst by a shipowner
  • Experience working within project teams and understanding project management concepts.
  • Proficiency in business analysis techniques, including requirements gathering, documentation, and analysis.
  • Experience in translating business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with various technologies, programming languages, and software architectures.
  • Familiarity with tools commonly used in business analysis, such as requirements management tools, collaboration tools, and diagramming software.
