We are looking for a Carbon Offset Activities’ Specialist to support certified carbon offset projects and decarbonization initiatives, ensuring compliance with international standards and ESG strategies.
Knowledge of the local Mozambican context and regulations will be considered a strong asset.
Role Summary
The Carbon Offset Activities’ Specialist supports decarbonization and net‑zero strategies by managing and verifying certified carbon offset activities.
The role combines technical, regulatory and project coordination skills to ensure that offset initiatives are credible, compliant and aligned with ESG objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support carbon footprint assessments (Scope 1, 2 and 3) and identify emissions eligible for offsetting
- Identify, assess and manage carbon offset projects (e.g. nature‑based solutions, renewable energy)
- Ensure compliance with international certification standards (Verra VCS, Gold Standard, etc.)
- Coordinate Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV) activities and interface with auditors and certification bodies
- Contribute to technical documentation and sustainability / ESG reporting
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients and external partners to ensure transparency and alignment with decarbonization strategies
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental / Energy Engineering, Agronomy, Forestry or related fields
- Experience in carbon offset projects, carbon accounting or climate mitigation initiatives
- Knowledge of GHG Protocol, carbon accounting principles and offset standards
- Familiarity with MRV frameworks and audit processes
