RINA is currently recruiting for a Power System Protection & Connections Junior Consultant to join its office in Manchester within the Consulting Country UK Division.
Overview
As a Junior Consultant within our growing Power Systems team, you will provide technical studies input on a range of projects involving UK and international clients. The work will focus on delivery of power systems analysis services for distribution, transmission and conventional/renewable generation projects around the world. The role is based at our office in Manchester and worked on a hybrid basis.
Responsibilties
- Assist and provide technical input on a variety of studies for distribution and transmission networks, renewable energy and grid integration, including: Power system planning, grid connection studies, protection and substation design
- Analyse the grid code requirements, industry accepted practices and grid connection processes
- Suppoprt and contibute towards the submission of high quality bids and proposals to existing and potential clients
- Participate in business development activities to meet and foster relationships with current and prospective clients
- Continuous enhancement of networking at all levels within RINA, client organisations and other external bodies as applicable
- Continuous improvement of representing RINA to clients at bid presentations and project presentations
- Lead small-sclae project studies
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Hold a minimum of a Bachelor or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or other relevant technical discipline
- Possess an understanding of power system theory
- Possess an understanding of transmission and distribution grids (LV to 400 kV) around the world,
- Knowledge of Laplace controller models and their operation
- Acceptable skill with modern simulation software and electrical circuit modelling tools e.g. PSS/E, DigSILENT Powerfactory, ETAP, ERACS etc.
- A priliminary understanding of Project Management principles and tools
- Ability to work effectively within a flexible team environment
- Good Interpersonal skills
- Experienced in a power systems engineering environment
- Track record on static and/or dynamic power system studies
- Track record in design and specification of HV substation equipment would be an advantage
- Experience of engineering consultancy would be an advantage
