Completion Pumping Engineer (Angola)

This is a resident position, based at our client’s office.
Key responsibilities
Design and programme review
• Prepare and review pumping sections of completion programmes: OHGP (alpha-beta and shunt-tube), CHGP, frac-pack/StimPAC, propped fracturing and matrix acidising.
• Review contractor pump schedules, fluid formulations and simulations (e.g. FracCADE, PackCADE, INSITE) for fracture window, pack efficiency, friction and proppant transport.
• Select carrier fluids (xanthan, VES, brine-based, crosslinked) and acid systems (HCl, organic, mud acid, clay acid) for each reservoir.
• Run injectivity, step-rate and mini-frac analysis; calculate MASP and pressure limits against completion and wellhead ratings.
• Support programme reviews and partner technical presentations.
Qualifications and experience
Essential
• BSc or MSc in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years in sand control and stimulation pumping, with at least 5 years as lead or technical engineer.
• Hands-on design and execution of OHGP, CHGP and frac-pack completions, including deepwater wells.
• Track record of fluid qualification and field QA/QC for gravel pack and acid systems.
• Experience working with IOCs or NOCs as client
Desirable
• Direct experience in Angola deepwater, ideally Block 15/06 or comparable West African fields.
• Operator-side (company representative) experience, not only service-company.
• Technical papers (SPE or internal), training-instructor or mentoring experience.
• Exposure to gas well completions and AICD/inflow-control screens.
• Involvement in tender technical evaluation and commercial proposals.
Languages and certifications
• Fluent English required; Portuguese strongly preferred; French an advantage.
• Valid Tropical BOSIET (or equivalent offshore survival) and offshore medical.
• Well Control certification (IWCF/IADC) preferred.
