Rina is seeking for a Drilling & Wells Risk Advisor in Angola (Resident at Client's office)
Role Purpose
The Drilling & Wells Risk Advisor provides expert guidance and assurance on risk management practices across drilling, completion, intervention, and well integrity operations. The role ensures that risks are systematically identified, assessed, and mitigated in line with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, enabling safe, efficient, and reliable well operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Management
- Lead the identification, assessment, and management of risks throughout the well lifecycle (design, construction, operation, abandonment).
- Facilitate risk assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, DWOP, and well-specific risk reviews.
- Develop and maintain the Drilling & Wells Risk Register and ensure risks are tracked to closure.
- Advisory & Assurance
- Provide technical risk management advice to Drilling, Completion, and Well Integrity teams.
- Support the implementation of company Risk Management Framework and ensure compliance with corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct assurance reviews and independent challenge of well delivery and integrity plans.
- Operational Support
- Advise on contingency planning, barrier management, and emergency response readiness.
- Support incident investigation, root cause analysis, and the development of preventive measures.
- Monitor lessons learned and promote continuous improvement in risk management practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a focal point for risk-related matters with regulators, partners, and contractors.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to build risk awareness and competencies within the Wells organization.
- Data & Reporting
- Track, analyze, and report on risk trends and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide management with insights on emerging risks and recommend mitigating strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in Drilling, Completions, or Well Integrity operations, with at least 3 years in risk management or assurance roles.
- Strong knowledge of well design, construction, and integrity principles.
- Experience with risk management methodologies (e.g., bow-tie analysis, ALARP demonstration, barrier-based risk management).
- Familiarity with international standards and guidelines (API, ISO, NORSOK, IOGP).
- Proven ability to influence, facilitate workshops, and communicate complex risk concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
