RINA is currently recruiting for a Traffic Engineer to join its office in Chicago or Lisle, IL, Columbus, OH or Brookfiled, WI within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division.

Mission

Step into a pivotal role where your expertise drives the success of traffic engineering projects from concept to completion. As the subject matter expert in traffic engineering, you'll lead design and analysis, ensure top-tier technical deliverables, and act as the vital link between project managers and multidisciplinary teams. Your leadership will guide project scopes, timelines, and budgets, while your insights influence client decisions through meetings, proposals, and strategic recommendations. Key Accountabilities

  • Work with project team on designs and traffic analysis on a wide range of intersection types
  • As a part pf the project team, maintains effective communication with project team members, other engineers and departments, and clients.
  • Completes project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Reviews deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Develops conceptual and basic engineering documents including studies, design criteria, etc.
  • Utilizes engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Develop and review roadway and intersection designs.
  • Prepares intersection and interchange design studies.
  • Design and optimize traffic signal systems and timing plans.
  • Conduct traffic safety studies and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal traffic regulations.
  • Prepare technical reports, plans, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • 5 plus years of experience in design engineering, including traffic projects. Knowledge of traffic signal design is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License, PTOE preferred.
  • Proficiency in traffic analysis software e.g. Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro, CORSIM, Rodel, and VISSIM.  Knowledge of ITS applications is a plus
  • Ability to design in MicroStation Open Roads Designer
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO and local design standards
  • Excellent analytical, communication and project management skills

 

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Occasional Local or regional travel (i.e. client or job sites) may be required based upon business need
