RINA is currently recruiting for a IDOT Construction Technician to join its office in Lisle, IL within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division.

Compensation Data

Wage range: $27 - $34 per hour based on experience.

Mission

As an IDOT Construction Technician, your mission will involve providing construction supervision services. With limited supervision, you will observe, monitor, verify, and record Contractor's work daily for compliance with Illinois Department of Transportation's (IDOT) quality and schedule objectives as defined in the construction contract documents. Additionally, you will proactively address field issues by bringing them to the attention of the IDOT Program Manager for timely resolution. Your responsibilities will include preparing daily field logs, recording completed activities, and overseeing Contractor activities at various work sites.

Key Accountabilities

  • Under limited supervision, monitor Contractor work and verify that activities conform to intended work.
  • Coordinate with IDOT District 1, Bureau of Maintenance on a daily basis.
  • Notify the IDOT PM of any deviations from the planned schedule of activities.
  • Prepare daily logs, maintain files, and document all safety incidents as directed by the IDOT Project Manager.
  • Perform inspections of Contractor's work for completion and quality at project sites.
  • Confer with IDOT, the Contractor, and other Consultants concerning work performed in the field.

Qualifications

  • Experience in civil or roadway construction preferred. Public works experience considered. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write technical field reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with electronic file management systems.
  • Experience with IDOT construction projects is a plus.

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license.
