RINA is currently recruiting for a Americas Senior Social Consultant to join its office in Americas (Brazil, Peru, Panama, Chile, Colombia or Mexico) within the Sustainability and Business Innovation Division.

The Senior Social Consultant focuses on leading the charge in conducting in-depth social impact assessments and crafting robust management plans to proactively address potential challenges and maximize positive impacts, ensuring that every project not only meets regulatory requirements but also sets a benchmark for social responsibility and inclusive development.

Key Accountabilities
Conduct Social Impact Assessments and Stakeholder Engagement Processes:
- Lead the design and implementation of social impact assessments (e.g. human rights impact assessment, supply chain assessment) to assess project effects on communities, cultures, and stakeholders.
- Facilitate inclusive and participatory stakeholder engagement processes to gather diverse perspectives, address concerns, and promote transparency.
Develop Social Management Plans:
- Design and oversee the development of comprehensive social management plans (e.g. social impacts management plans) that prioritize social inclusion, community participation, and sustainable development practices.
- Integrate advanced mitigation measures and enhancement strategies to proactively address social impacts and optimize project outcomes.
Collaborate with Communities and Stakeholders:
- Forge strong partnerships with communities, local authorities, NGOs, and stakeholders to build trust, address social concerns, and foster collaborative problem-solving.
- Lead collaborative efforts to identify and implement context-specific measures that mitigate social risks and enhance project benefits.
Deliver Social Consultancy Services in Compliance with International Standards:
- Ensure the delivery of social consultancy services aligns with the highest international standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Provide senior guidance to clients on navigating environmental and social requirements throughout project lifecycles.
Support Proposal Preparation and Client Liaison:
- Lead the development of project proposals by leveraging advanced expertise in social and environmental standards, methodologies, and compliance.
- Cultivate strong client relationships by understanding their unique environmental and social sustainability objectives and providing tailored solutions and support.
Travel for Site Visits and Documentation Review:
- Undertake international travel to project sites for comprehensive on-site assessments, documentation review, and monitoring of environmental, health, safety, and social aspects.
- Document and communicate findings, observations, and recommendations effectively to inform decision-making processes and ensure compliance with standards.
Project Management Tasks:
- Collaborate closely with project managers to monitor budgets, schedules, and deliverables related to environmental and social aspects, providing senior-level oversight and guidance.
- Champion the integration of environmental and social considerations into project planning and execution, contributing to cross-functional teams' success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sociology, Social Sciences, Anthropology, or related field.
- Proven track record of extensive experience and leadership in conducting social impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, and social management planning.
- In-depth knowledge of international standards such as IFC Performance Standards, IDB E&S Performance Standards, Equator Principles, ILO Conventions, and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
- At least 10 years’ of work experience as well as prior 5+ years consulting experience.
