RINA is currently recruiting for a West Indonesia Junior Marine Surveyor - Graduate Trainee to join its office in Jakarta, Indonesia within the South Asia Pacific Marine Division.
Mission
The Graduate Program is a 12-month structured development path designed to develop the next generation of Marine Surveyors. Based in BATAM, you will report to the RINA BATAM Marine Office and be assigned rotational postings other offices within RINA Marine South Asia Pacific. These rotations will provide not only hands-on exposure to ship classification and statutory surveys, testing of materials and components, plan approval processes across various operational contexts, as well as exposure to marketing and commercial activities.
Throughout the program, you will work under the guidance of experienced RINA surveyors and gain real-world experience in survey planning, execution, and reporting. This program is designed to equip you with the technical foundation, professional confidence, and regional perspective needed for a long-term career as a Marine Surveyor / Plan Approval Engineer with RINA.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will continue your career development as a Junior Marine Surveyor within the RINA INDONESIA team.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop knowledge in the classification rules, maritime international conventions and industry best practices.
- Develop skills in surveying using various surveying instruments and techniques through hands-on training.
- Assist in conducting surveys and inspections of vessels for classification and statutory compliance, under supervision.
- Participate in review of technical documentation related to hull structure, machinery, safety systems, and equipment.
- Draft preliminary survey reports and maintain accurate records under guidance.
- Collaborate with technical teams in multiple offices and participate in client interactions.
- Attend internal training, seminars, and development sessions as part of the structured program.
Education
Qualifications
- Fresh graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Engineering.
- Keen interest in ship safety, compliance, and classification.
- Strong analytical and observational skills.
- Willingness to travel and relocate for rotational assignments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team player with a proactive and hands-on attitude.
- Open to Indonesian only.
- Should be Proficient in English - both written and spoken.
