RINA is currently recruiting for a South Asia Pacific Junior Electrical Plan Approval Engineer - Graduate Trainee to join its office in Jakarta, Indonesia within the South Asia Pacific Marine Division.
Mission
The Junior Electrical Plan Approval Engineer supports the review of electrical plans and documentation to verify compliance with classification rules as well as international codes, conventions and standards which are applicable to newbuildings and in-service commercial ships and yachts.
Key Accountabilities
• Assist senior engineers in reviewing drawings and technical documentation related to electrical ship equipment and systems.
• Assist managers with drawing submission and registration management, as well as plan approval progress tracking.
• Support the verification of compliance of submitted drawings and documents against classification society rules, statutory requirements and international codes conventions and standards.
• Collaborate with other plan approval disciplines to support co-check reviews of multi-disciplinary drawings and documents.
• Engage in continuous learning and professional development to maintain qualifications and expand knowledge of electrical engineering, rules, standards, and electrotechnical progress.
• Duly observe the company’s policies with regards to cybersecurity, ethics, health safety and environment and timely complete the associated compulsory internal training.
Education
Qualifications
• 0 to 1 year of experience in maritime electrical engineering, electrical equipment, electrical systems or classification plan approval.
• Fundamental knowledge of on-board electrical power generation, AC and DC power distribution, equipment automation and control systems, alarm and monitoring systems and shore connection.
• Familiarity with classification rules (e.g., RINA, DNV, ABS, BV, LR, IACS, etc.) and international codes, conventions and standards (IMO, IEC, ISO, etc.).
• Basic understanding of plan approval procedures, including the review of electrical drawings and documentation for compliance with classification and statutory requirements
