RINA is currently recruiting for a Türkiye Principal Stability Plan Approval Engineer to join its office in Istanbul within the South Europe Marine Division.​

Mission

 

This role focuses on on ensuring that plan and design reviews are analyzed according to the highest quality standards, ensuring that client requirements and applicable standards or adequate safety criteria are met. Projects could include the approval of new building, conversion, and existing vessels and yachts. #LI-DP1

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Review and approve Load Line assignments, intact stability booklet, damage stability booklets, loading computer and complex studies in compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations, for new buildings, ships in service, and ship’s conversions. 
  • Assist clients during the design and construction phase, providing guidance and support related to load line, stability, loading computer and ballast water management plan matters.
  • Ensure that reviews of novel aspects, falling outside the plan approval field of competence, are of the highest quality and in compliance with applicable RINA rules, international conventions and contractual requirements.
  • Resolve complex issues related to conflicting design requirements and material standards.
  • Perform complex or non-standard assessments and provide expert advice for service delivery, research or development work within agreed broad parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements.  
  • For the activities in charge: ensure correct and up-to-date data is used and complete documentation is submitted to officials, review and ensure compliance with project schedules and deliverable timelines, review the project deliverables (technical reports, project performance.
  • Take ownership and responsibility over the financial progress of assigned tasks.
  • Understand and apply project management concepts proactively providing feedback to project.
  • Manage simple and complex projects assigned applying project management, concepts and techniques.
  • Assess highly technical complex or novel issues problems for internal/external clients to identify solutions, including highly technical complex or novel issues falling outside the plan approval field of competence. 

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree in Engineering General or Naval Engineering

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in ship stability analysis, plan approval, or regulatory compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of Intact & Damage Stability for OIL, GEN and DRY Cargo Vessels.
  • In-depth knowledge of Intact & Damage Stability for PASSENGER, RORO-PAX, HSC, HSC-PAX Vessels.
  • In-depth knowledge of Intact & Damage Stability for MODU, TUG Vessels.
  • Expert on International Codes as IS Code, HSC Code, SPS Code, Grain Code, OSV Code, MODU Code.
  • Expert on International Conventions like SOLAS, MARPOL, ICLL 1966/1988, ITC.
  • Expert on Deterministic and Probabilistic (SOLAS 90, SOLAS 2009, SOLAS 2020).
  • Expert on Stockholm Agreement (water on deck calculations).
  • Expert on Freeboard calculations, Grain stability, Inclining Experiments, EEDI & EEXI calculations, SOPEP&SMPEP, BWMP, loading instruments.
  • Considerable knowledge on SEEMP PART II and III, IMO DCS, EU-MRV and FuelEU.
  • Familiarity with stability analysis software (e.g., Napa, GHS, HECSALV, or classification society-specific tools).
  • Fluency in Turkish; Proficieny in English, both written and spoken is a must.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, client-focused attitude.

  • Well-organized, proactive, and able to manage time and documentation effectively.
