RINA is currently recruiting for a Tax Specialist to join its office in Houston, TX,  Chicago or Lisle, IL within the Americas Finance Division.​

Compensation Data

$80,000 - $110,000 commensurate with experience and education.

Mission

The Tax Specialist is responsible for overseeing the fiscal operations for companies in the RINA North America Region, including fiscal planning and analysis, budgeting, accounting, and reporting. This role ensures that the organization's fiscal processes are efficient, accurate, and compliant with relevant regulations. The RINA North America Region includes United States and Canada.

Key Accountabilities

Tax Management and Compliance:

  • Lead tax planning and compliance efforts.
  • Track the status of filings and work with external consultants to ensure filings are completed within the due dates.
  • Coordinate the filings or federal, state, local, property, sales & use and VAT tax where applicable.
  • Review and propose resolution for any notices received from taxation agencies.
  • Liaise with HR to document and ensure that federal and state payroll taxes are processed and reported.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and optimize tax strategies.
  • Implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.

Tax Planning and Optimization:

  • Identifying opportunities (tax credit, exemption) to minimize tax liabilities, maximize tax benefits.
  • Support the Corporate Tax function as needed.
  • Advising on tax implications of mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Drafting a schedule of annual and monthly obligations
  • Support colleagues in the operating network in preparing the tax documentation necessary to participate in tenders or consultancy on various tax issues before signing contracts or in the event of disputes with suppliers / customers

Financial Planning and Analysis on fiscal matters:

  • Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts on fiscal matters
  • Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations to management.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast and identify areas for improvement.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conducting research on tax laws, regulations, rulings, and court cases to stay updated on changes and developments.
  • Analyzing tax issues and implications related to specific transactions, investments, or business operations.

Financial Reporting:

  • Calculate the tax provision and monthly adjustments as necessary for financial closure activities.
  • Gather relevant financial and operational data necessary for tax analysis and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Liaising with internal departments, external advisors, and tax authorities to facilitate tax-related activities.
  • Communicating tax requirements, deadlines, and updates to relevant stakeholders within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance management or economics
  • 5+ years’ experience in finance, accounting, fiscal sector, and tax optimization initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of management control principles, including performance measurement, cost accounting, and process optimization.
  • Proven ability to drive change and implement process improvements within a complex organizational environment.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus on strategic initiatives.
  •  Project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects from initiation to implementation.
  • Adaptability and resilience in navigating organizational dynamics and driving change in a dynamic business environment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Power , Excel, BI, Tableau).
