RINA is currently recruiting for a Project Controls Specialist to join its office in Houston, TX, Columbus, OH, Lisle or Chicago, IL within the Consulting Planning, Monitoring & Business Support Division.
Compensation Data
Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience
Mission
The Project Controls Specialist, as part of the Planning, Monitoring and Support organization, serves to support the operations as well as the commercial functions within the Rina North American Business Units. Specifically, the role will be proficient in the full breadth of Project Controls functions including the key areas of scope management, schedule management, cost management, risk management, and change management.
Key Accountabilities
- Monitor, and assist Business Unit Project Managers, as necessary, in the maintenance of scope, schedule, and budget for projects, and perform objective performance measurement of the projects.
- Assist project managers with project start-ups and work plan development.
- In collaboration with each Business Line leader, monitor resource planning, labor forecasts, and time management/utilization of staff to ensure financial performance goals are met.
- Contribute to project reporting and project auditing to monitor project quality and adherence to project management processes.
- Assist with capturing lessons learned and best practices on projects then driving changes in behavior and actions to adhere to them.
- Assist with the coordination with project staff to ensure accuracy of cost and schedule updates.
- Conduct risk assessments on projects to help understand and mitigate project risks.
- Conduct QA/QC audits to ensure adherence to QA/QC standards.
- Assist with the development of business, project, and proposal processes and requirements, assessment of current reporting capabilities, and making recommendations for improvements on processes and practices that have an impact on the BUs to achieve stated goals.
- Oversee CRM and ERP system data quality and accuracy, and work with commercial and operations teams to maintain data in the system. Conduct meetings as required to assist with data quality.
- Translate financial performance metrics and Profit/Loss statements, and progress into clear insights and actionable takeaways through both verbal and visual meeting formats.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Equivalent years of experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of experience in project management, risk management, time impact analysis, and cost management
- Working knowledge of finance operations, including ability to understand financial reports and metrics, forecasting, cost accounting, AP/AR, and fixed asset accounting.
- Possesses a high level of business acumen with the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to operate with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including handling confidential information.
- Experience preferred with analytical tools like Power BI or equivalent, and proficiency expected in other Microsoft Office application
Additional Requirements
- 10% of travel required
- Valid driver’s license required; position requires occasional use of fleet vehicle, personal vehicle, and/or rental vehicle for business-related travel.
