Principal Consultant - Climate Change & Sustainability

RINA is currently recruiting for a Principal Consultant - Climate Change & Sustainability to join its office in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam within the ESG & Sustainability Division.

Mission

The ideal candidate will closely work with players within the industry/commercial and financial sectors in the Asia Region which are willing to implement a green, decarbonization and/or ESG strategy. The candidate will be responsible to grow the sustainability & climate change business in the Asia Region, deliver technical projects with support of other international colleagues and establish in the medium-long term a local technical team to support in the business development and technical delivery.

Key Accountabilities

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as the key contact for the sustainability & climate change in the Asia Region.
  • Develop commercially and then lead project execution in sustainability field in the Asia Region (with support of international colleagues and network of local consultants), with particular emphasis on ESG, GHG accounting, Decarbonization, Climate Mitigation & Adaptation, Climate Change Risks, Green Finance.
  • Manage the entire project life cycle, from sales, up to closure capturing and disseminating lessons learned. 
  • Coordinating contract negotiation and claims with customers, in collaboration with the Supply Chain and Legal functions.
  • Monitoring and controlling project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow (regularly adopting CRM Microsoft Dynamics 365 for project management).
  • Hire and manage a pool of local/regional experts in the short-medium-long term to support the growth of the business (for both business development and technical delivery)
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to sustainability, with thorough knowledge in energy, emission trading, and ESG principles.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate Master’s Degree in Environmental/Energy/ Climate Change Engineering, Economics or other related discipline;
  • Post-graduate study in sustainability matters and climate-energy transition will be considered as a plus;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (C1 Level)
  • At least 10 years of experience in sustainability & climate change advisory;
  • Understanding of relevant frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD) and reporting standards;
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead and coordinate diverse client teams;
  • Excellent business development skills with the ability to generate new opportunities and establish strong and trustworthy relationships with potential clients
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly;
