RINA is currently recruiting for a Risk Assessment Lead to join its office in Helsinki within the Marine Design & Engineering Division.

Mission

 

The role involves working on challenging ship design projects, with an focus on exploring alternative design solutions, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulations. #LI-DP1

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Participate in ship design projects, with a focus on alternative design approaches, risk analysis, and regulatory compliance in collaboration with the project department.
  • Participate in development and approval of innovative design solutions that go beyond prescriptive rules, ensuring safety, regulatory alignment, and class/flag compliance.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential hazards across design and operational scenarios.
  • Support cruise ship newbuilding and conversion projects, while also contributing to other vessel types as needed.
  • Review designs, specifications, and operational concepts to ensure compliance with international regulations and company standards.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation, reports, and presentations summarizing risk assessment findings and recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Provide input and guidance for safety, reliability, and operational risk management initiatives across multiple projects.

Qualifications

 

  • Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Naval Architect, with specialization in alternative design, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and classification societies rules.
  • Proven experience in cruise ship newbuilding and conversion projects; experience with other vessel types is a plus.
  • Previous experience as Project Manager for multiple projects is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to develop innovative technical solutions that balance safety, compliance, and operational requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation, reports, and risk assessment findings for internal and client use.
  • Good proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
