Foreship ( part of RINA) is currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join its office in Helsinki within the Marine Design & Engineering Division.​

Mission

 

The Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering complex cruise ship conversion projects, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, budget control, and client satisfaction. The role also contributes to newbuilding and technology-driven projects, acting as a key link between clients, design teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution from concept development through delivery. #FORESHIP

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Coordinate and manage large, complex cruise ship conversion projects from early design phase through to final delivery.
  • Contribute as a key Project Manager in cruise ship newbuilding and ferry projects when required.
  • Actively participate in demanding ship design projects, primarily related to cruise ship conversions, in close collaboration with the project department team.
  • Support additional projects, including cruise ship newbuilding, ferry newbuilding, and new technology initiatives, as needed.
  • Define and manage project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource planning in alignment with client expectations and internal requirements.
  • Monitor and control project budget, schedule, risks, and quality throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including naval architects, engineers, and external partners, ensuring efficient collaboration and delivery.
  • Provide technical oversight and expertise in general arrangement, technical specifications, classification society rules and maritime regulations, safety and statutory requirements.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, technical workshops, and design reviews, providing expert guidance and practical solutions.

Qualifications

 

  • Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager in cruise ship conversion projects and/or newbuilding projects.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale maritime projects with full responsibility for scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Experience with cruise ship newbuilding or ferry design projects is a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ship design processes, general arrangement, ship systems integration, technical specifications within complex cruise ship projects.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime rules, regulations, and class requirements, with hands-on experience applying them during conversions.
  • Ability to perform inclining tests and lightweight surveys.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities under tight schedules.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
