RINA is currently recruiting for a Conversion Team Lead to join its office in Helsinki within the Marine Design & Engineering Division.
Mission
The role oversees a multidisciplinary team of conversion engineers, managing complex cruise ship conversion projects with responsibility for technical leadership, project delivery, quality, and client engagement from concept to completion. #LI-DP1
Key Accountabilities
- Act as Project Manager for large and technically challenging cruise ship conversion projects, with full responsibility for planning, execution, and delivery.
- Lead and manage a team of approximately 10 conversion engineering experts, when needed, ensuring effective coordination, mentoring, and delivery of project objectives.
- Participate in demanding ship design projects, primarily related to cruise ship conversions, in close cooperation with the Project Department.
- Provide support for other projects as required, including cruise ship newbuildings, ferry newbuildings, and new technology development projects.
- Attend and actively contribute to client meetings, representing the company with a high level of professionalism and technical authority.
- Provide expert input in general arrangement development, technical specifications, rules and regulations, safety assessments, and other core Naval Architect tasks.
- Ensure compliance with classification society requirements, statutory regulations, and internal quality standards across all assigned projects.
Qualifications
- Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager and Naval Architect, with 5+ years focused on cruise ship conversion projects.
- Previous experience in design companies could represent an advantage.
- Deep expertise in cruise ship conversions, particularly from the hotel refurbishment and outfitting perspective.
- Previous experience as Project Manager on complex conversion or refurbishment projects.
- Strong capability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams (technical, hotel, yard, suppliers, class, and owners).
- Excellent client management skills, with the ability to represent the project confidently and professionally.
- High proficiency in AutoCAD, including interpretation and coordination of technical drawings.
- Solid understanding of maritime rules, regulations, and class requirements, with hands-on experience applying them during conversions.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities under tight schedules.
- Good proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
