RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Testing Surveyor to join its office in Germany within the North Europe Marine Division.

Mission

 

The role involves testing and inspecting systems and components, especially for the maritime industry, while also supporting projects in related sectors.

 

We are looking for candidates residing in Hannover or in the Ruhr area (North Rhine-Westphalia).

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Survey various types of maritime equipment, heavy machinery, cargo handling equipment etc. at manufacturers’ facilities.
  • Conduct inspections, surveys, and certifications in accordance with RINA Classification Rules and statutory requirements.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to clients as needed.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues encountered during surveys or client interactions.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver accurate survey reports.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, ensuring clear reporting and collaboration.
  • Maintain quality assurance standards to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance of inspection reports.
  • Share knowledge and best practices within the team to foster collaboration and professional growth.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and pursue relevant certifications to stay current with industry standards.

Qualifications

 

  • Formal education (B.Eng., M.Eng., Diploma, or equivalent) in Naval Architecture, Marine Operations, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related technical field.
  • Certification as a Welding Engineer is considered a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a class surveyor, owner superintendent, shipyard quality inspector, chief engineer (on board merchant ships), or in another relevant engineering discipline is mandatory.
  • Previous experience as a surveyor in a Classification Society is highly valuable and considered a major advantage.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of hulls, machinery, equipment, and safety systems of ships.
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficient in MS Office and generally IT-literate.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, and under extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solution-oriented, proactive, and customer-focused mindset.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict management, and client relationship skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Valid Category B driving license.
