RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Junior Customer Technical Services Engineer to join its office in Hamburg within the North Europe Marine Division.
Mission
The Junior Marine Customer Technical Services Engineer supports the delivery of high-quality technical services to maritime clients, assisting senior engineers and customer managers in achieving service excellence, client satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. This entry-level role is designed to provide foundational exposure to classification services, fleet technical analysis, and customer interaction in a structured and collaborative environment. The Junior Engineer contributes to data collection, reporting, and coordination activities that underpin effective customer engagement and technical support
Key Accountabilities
Customer Support & Technical Coordination
- Assist in preparing technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal use and client meetings.
- Support senior engineers in responding to customer inquiries related to classification rules, statutory matters, and Port State Control (PSC) issues.
- Help coordinate communication between internal teams and customers to ensure timely follow-up and task completion.
- Contribute to tracking service requests and ongoing technical projects for assigned customer accounts.
Fleet Data Monitoring & Reporting
- Collect and organize fleet performance data to support analysis by senior technical staff.
- Maintain accurate records of vessel status, surveys, and compliance milestones using internal tools.
- Support the preparation of standard and ad-hoc reports for fleet oversight, identifying trends and assisting in issue tracking.
Service Delivery Support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of services in line with client expectations.
- Participate in internal service reviews and debriefs, noting improvement opportunities and follow-up actions.
- Assist in reviewing customer feedback and help document lessons learned and best practices.
Learning & Development
- Develop technical knowledge of classification rules, statutory regulations, and ship operations under the mentorship of senior staff.
- Shadow senior engineers during client calls, technical meetings, and onboard inspections (where applicable).
- Actively engage in internal training programs to build foundational competencies in the maritime and classification domain.
Education
Qualifications
- Internship or university project experience in a maritime technical environment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of ship types, class society operations, and marine regulatory frameworks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite; exposure to technical reporting tools or maritime software is a plus.
- Strong willingness to learn and grow in a structured maritime services environment.
- Fluency in English required; other languages are an asset.
